Stratton Christmas Party

Once again a rip roaring time was had by all as we played to the crowd at the Stratton Village Hall for their annual Christmas Party.   We did some Christmas classics from Slade and Wizard to name but a few and invited all the organisers to participate with us using some accompaniments including sleighbells and maracas.

"Rosie Cheeks Gonna Light My Merry Way.........."
The party continued into the early hours as everyone ate, drank and danced the night away.

So here's wishing everyone in Stratton and all of our friends a warm and beautiful Christmas and a prosperous and fulfilling 2012!  We are back early in the New Year, please see our "Dates For Your Diary".

Happy Christmas to you all
from Goldie Rox!

Weymouth Beach Live - 2011

Once again, Goldie Rox took to the stage, this time at Weymouth Beach Live 2011.  You'll notice the addition of our fabulous keyboardist Martyn, bringing in fresh talent.
We got the crowds jiving and singing along to some good old classics such as Hard Days Night, Stand By Me and our version of I Feel Good.  Apparently, they were dancing on the Esplanade at the back of the stage as well.  I reckon a good time was had by all and we look forward to returning in 2012.

The Stratton-bury Festival!! on the Green 25 June 2011

We had a superb time with all the locals in Stratton Village on their lush green right in the middle.  Lots of people turned out for the evening's entertainment (I think an early night was not going to be in order!!)  There was the wonderful Colin who made sure everything ran smoothly as he raced around from pillar to post with his trusty clipboard, and please let's not forget the magnificent Trevor with his bbq implements and pinny cooking up burgers by the dozen.  This all made so much easier from his two beautiful lady assistants, Jan & Izzy who kept it all so organised and running very smoothly.
The band played out a lot of favourite tunes from Blondie, Queen, The Beatles, Los Lobos, Robert Palmer to name but a few.  Apparently there is some wonderful footage but technical issues at present are preventing us putting it up on the web.  Hopefully this will be sorted before too long.
We really did have the most awesome time at Stratton and everyone gave us such a warm welcome. Please visit www.strattondorset.org for the full story.  We look forward to returning.

Will & Kate's Royal Wedding at the New Inn, Littlemoor.

We celebrated in style with free champagne and beautiful specially made wedding cake for the occasion of Prince William & Kate Middleton's wedding at the New Inn, Littlemoor.  We played some favourites for the New Inn regulars, namely Paranoid, White Wedding, Since You've Been Gone & a medley of Whole Lotta Love with Black Knight.  A thoroughly good night was had by all.  We'll be back!!

Kingston Maurward Floral Fashion Show

We entertained the crowds at the Kingston Maurward Floral Fashion Show on 23rd March 2011 and raised funds for the Special Care Baby Unit at Dorset County Hospital & Margaret Green Animal Rescue.  Around £1100 was raised in total and the proceeds where split between the 2 charities.  Had loads of fun and played some brilliant party songs.  We seemed to have lost "Dinger" in this picture but he is there, honest, hiding in the corner!

Goldie Rox plays at the Havenfest evening at the Ocean Room, Pavillion, Weymouth

We debuted at the Ocean Room, Pavillion, Weymouth on 29 January 2011 to raise money for Heroes Haven, Swanage.  This is a charity which has been set up to raise money for members of the armed forces who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan and have lost limbs.  The aim is to raise enough money to build a specially adapted chalet holiday home for these much deserving people and their families in Swanage, to enjoy their holiday.

It was a fantastic night and we opened the evening with our version of "Maria" (Blondie Version).  We did a version of Don't Speak which we dedicated to Wendy, wife of Mark Gerrard of Pegasus Disco who with people such as Linda Walsh and Lynne Connor did such a wonderful job of putting the evening together.  For more information on this charity, please Email heroeshaven@btinternet.com
